ALC Ramban releases compensation Rs. 28.88 lacks in favour of deceased construction workers

RAMBAN, March 08: The Labour Department, Ramban gave Rs.28.88 lakh to the dependents of the deceased construction workers here today. The beneficiaries included the family members of Raj Kumar who was awarded an amount of Rs.13.38 and Khalid Hussain who was awarded Rs 15.50 lakh.

While handing over the cheque to the dependents of the deceased, the Assistant Labour Commissioner, Ramban, Dr Sushant Mahajan, emphasized the importance of providing adequate support and guidance to dependents of the deceased construction workers in the construction sector. He also advised them to save the money and utilise it properly for their subsistence.  

In addition, the Assistant Labour Commissioner also released an amount of Rs 7,44,500 in favour of the 93 registered construction workers as Lower Education Assistance for the education of their children under the J&K Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB).

On the occasion, Dr Mahajan also highlighted the various initiatives taken by the government to ensure the welfare of workers in the construction sector, including the provision of health and safety measures at work sites and the establishment of a database of registered workers to ensure that they receive timely and adequate support.

The ALC stated that the Government is running several schemes for the welfare of Building and other Construction workers with the objective of regulating employment and conditions of service and providing safety, health, and welfare measures for registered workers.

ALC appealed to the left-out construction workers to immediately apply for their registration under JKBOCWWB and avail the benefits of various welfare schemes of the government.
