What Is Black Adam’s Story?

In the time of Adam, Kahndaq was an oppressive nation that employed magic and sorcery to imprison portions of its people. However, once he was The Champion, Adam used his powers to free his people and establish Kahndaq as the nation’s king.

Adam was a hero at first; however, after the death of his family, Adam turned to darkness and accidentally released the demons referred to by The Seven Deadly Sins. Then he was imprisoned due to his actions in the past. Black Adam will bring him back from the prisoner after 5000 years, determined to bring Kahndaq back to the glory it once enjoyed.

It’s not clear what the connection between the film and Shazam is! But the death of the Wizard could be the catalyst that lets Adam escape his jail. While the details of the plot of the movie haven’t been revealed yet, however, we’re sure to witness Black Adam re-establish his kingdom. This could lead the JSA to attack Adam, leading to an uneasy war against Adam with the other superheroes. Considering how these stories typically take place, a greater threat will likely emerge, and the heroes will unite to protect the world.

The official synopsis for the plot published by Warner Bros reads:

“From New Line Cinema, Dwayne Johnson plays the lead role in the action thriller “Black Adam.” The first feature film that explores the origins of DC Super Hero comes to the big screen under the direction Jaume Collet-Serra (“Jungle Cruise”). Nearly 5,000 years after he was bestowed with the almighty powers of the ancient gods–and imprisoned just as quickly–Black Adam (Johnson) is freed from his earthly tomb, ready to unleash his unique form of justice on the modern world.”

Will Black Adam Have Sequels?

DC has plans to release a major film called Black Adam in the DCEU. However, there are no sequels confirmed as of yet. In 2017 Johnson stated that there was a plan to let Adam take on Shazam in a film to come.

“So what we decided to do was to create a scenario where Black Adam has his stand-alone movie, and Captain Marvel, Shazam, has his stand-alone movie,” the actor declared. “We’re building our world that way, and then we can come together at some point.”

Superman actor Henry Cavill had also hinted at the possibility of a cross-over between Black Adam and the Man of Steel in DCEU’s future. His exact words were, “There is some kind of work towards that.”

However, plans can alter, and we may not have the Black Adam V Superman: Dawn of Capes film. However, the character is sure to have a place in the DCEU in the form of a movie, even if there is no official announcement. Black Adam has recently renewed interest in comics and even became a major member of the Justice League. It appears that DC is making Black Adam an important player soon. Of course, the question of the decision of whether Black Adam does make it to a sequel or not will be contingent on the performance of the film once it opens.
