Deep Instinct Raises $62.5M in Financing

Deep Instinct, an NYC-based threat-prevention technology company, has raised $62.5M in the capital.

This round took place under the direction of BlackRock. The round was dominated by BlackRock and included participation from Chrysalis Investments, Millennium, and Unbound.

The company plans to use the funds to increase its market penetration.

The company is led by Lane Bess*, former Palo Alto Networks CEO and Zscaler COO, which is becoming CEO today; Deep Instinct takes a preventative approach to prevent ransomware and other malware by using a specialized, deep-learning cybersecurity framework. Deep Instinct Prevention Platform Deep Instinct Prevention Platform adds to all security stacks, offering multi-layered security layers to protect against threats across hybrid environments.

Bess comes with over 35 years of experience in cybersecurity and technology with a record of leading fast-expanding cybersecurity companies. He was the CEO of Palo Alto Networks for several years before its IPO. Following that, he was appointed to the post of COO for Zscaler, in which he worked with founder Jay Chaudhry to lead the rapid expansion of the business to the point of the company’s successful IPO.

In the leadership transition, Guy Caspi, the co-founder of the company (and former CEO), will succeed Lane Bess as Board Chair and is now chief product officer.
