‘Jesus Revolution’ Movie Trailer Shows a Dying Church Revived By a Hippie Congregation

From the directors from 2018’s “I Can’t Imagine”comes Jesus Revolution. The film tells a story about breaking down stereotypes and opening up minds, hearts, and doors amid a nation and generational division. Lionsgate has released a new trailer for the film, based on actual incidents ahead of its general release on February 24, 2023.

The tale of Jesus Revolution follows the story of a young man called Greg Laurie ( Joel Courtney) who is trying to find a reason to live his life in 1970. He meets two men he hopes can help him: Lonnie Frisbee (Jonathan Rumi), a charismatic hippie-street-preacher, and Pastor Chuck Smith (Kelsey Grammer), a poor opinionated man. of hippies who are trying to find a way to grow his failing church.

Despite their disagreements, they can work together to revive Chuck’s church by bringing hippies into the sermons. This is an unwelcome surprise for many of the more traditional churchgoers. As time passes, both sides begin to unite and lead to a new movement described as a “revival of radical and newfound love.” The action was expressed in TIME Magazine in 1971 as the “Jesus Revolution. “Jesus Revolution.”

The trailer shows churches and Lonnie working together and forming plans to bring hippies into his church. It is evident that many church members voice their concerns over the new visitors; however, Chuck insists that the doors opened to the new members are open to those who want to go elsewhere.

Chuck says that the church is not a sanctuary that is only for those who feel judged or disregarded. The two-minute and 5-second trailer concludes with a narration by Chuck in which he states, “This is your home, and I want you to tell all your friends about it.”

Alongside Roumie, Grammer, and Courtney, The cast for Jesus Revolution also includes Kimberly Williams-Paisley and Anna Grace Barlow, as well as other actors. The film’s direction is by Jon Erwin and Brent McCorkle. Erwin is the film’s writer, co-writing the screenplay along with Jon Gunn.
