“Logan” Filmmaker James Mangold Tells People to “Chill” After reacting to Hugh Jackman’s Return as Wolverine

Jackman will play with Ryan Reynolds in ‘Deadpool 3, which is scheduled to debut on September 6, 2024.

The director James Mangold reacted to the news that Hugh Jackman is reprising his role in the film Wolverine by tweeting, which was already causing controversy. The filmmaker then smothered the fires with a subsequent tweet. Mangold was the director of Jackman in two of his own Wolverine films: 2013’s moderately well-liked The Wolverine and its Oscar Award-nominated follow-up Logan.

The film was conceived to be a Western film in the style that of the likes of The Last of Us and Children of Men it became an instant success, earning more than $600 million in the world and earning Jackman the highest praise of his career in superhero films. It was also an appropriate swan song for the character had been his for the past 17 years. However, Ryan Reynolds surprised everyone on Wednesday by announcing that Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine in the coming Deadpool 3.

In a clip brimming with his trademark humour and boasting about his marketing expertise, Reynolds said that he’d tried to think of Deadpool’s first appearance as a character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a long time. He’d been unsuccessful. The only bright thought he had was that he wanted to carry out. Then, Jackman walked across the frame in front of him. Reynolds said, “Hey, Hugh, do you want to play Wolverine for a second time?” Jackman replied without looking up, “Yeah, sure, Ryan.”

Fans were shocked since everyone had given their final farewells to the version played by Jackman Wolverine five years back -the actor Mangold seemed to be also surprised. He shared a non-wordless GIF from the conclusion in Logan that showed Jackman’s Wolverine being stuck on a tree just before his death. The film concluded with a photo from his tomb.

However, when people began asking whether the tweet was a sign of disapproval, he tweeted that he wishes only the best for Reynolds and Jackman and does not care about the plot tricks they employ to bring Wolverine up from his death. According to his words,

“Oh my gosh! Everybody chill. Just kidding! I’m all good! LOGAN will always be there. Multiverse or prequel, time warp or wormhole, canon or non-canon or even without a rationale, I cannot wait to see what madness my dear friends @VancityReynolds and @RealHughJackman cook up!”

It was announced previously that Shawn Levy would direct Deadpool 3. Levy has worked with Reynolds in Free Guy and The Adam Project alongside Jackman on the under-rated Real Steel. The First Deadpool film was directed by Tim Miller, a blockbuster that surprised the world by making $782 million at the global box office. The second movie was made by David Leitch and grossed $785 million globally. Reynolds, the video concluded with a glimpse of the film’s logo, the Deadpool symbol with three claw marks etched across the surface, before revealing the date of release on September 6, 2024.

Jackman is set to appear in the Oscar contender The Son. Mangold is waiting for the arrival of Indiana Jones 5.
