When will the Jhiri Mela be held?
Jhiri Mela: North India’s most significant male, wherein more than 15 lakh people are expected to visit, as it couldn’t be organized for the last 3 yrs due to the Covid pandemic, is set to start from 7th to 16th Nov.
Today SDM Marh Rajeev Khajuria, who is Mela officer also, conducted marathon meetings with local pujaris, mahants, prominent citizens, PRI members & all other local stakeholders for smooth & successful conduct of this year’s meal as he maintained that no function of this much magnitude could be successful without the active involvement & cooperation of local stakeholders & advised all of them to receive lakhs of devotees visiting from inside & outside the country with love & respect as they all come out of devotion & faith for their revered deities Bua Kodi & Baba Jitto Mal Ji who sacrificed their lives for the cause of justice to peasant community irrespective of religion & race & also remembered & worshiped throughout the region.
This mela also boosts the local economy of the area & attracts tourists visiting Mata Vaishno Devi Ji & Shiv Khori shines from all over the country. He disclosed that this time special arrangements have been made from the administration side to ensure smooth, secure & satisfactory conduct of mela & soul touching experiences for pilgrims, as Laser show on the lives of Mata Vaishno Devi & Baba Jitto Mal, big LED displays on Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav from Central Bureau of Information, cultural programs, wrestling competitions, Dogra pagri wearing competition & departmental stalls shall be main attractions of this year’s Jhiri mela.
