Jammu Nov., 24. The Manuscripts Conservation Centre, Shashvat Art Gallery, Museum & Manuscripts Library Jammu Regional Centre of (National Mission for Manuscripts, Indira Gandhi National Centre for Art, Ministry of Culture Govt. of India New Delhi) today celebrated a one-day workshop cum exhibition on “Preventive Conservation of Manuscripts”.
Ms. Sonika Parihyar (JKAS) Assistant Director Department of Handicraft and Handloom, Jammu UT of J&K was the Chief Guest of the Occasion about 30 No’s students along with selected candidates during the workshop and Staff Member Ms. Anuradha and Mr. Rudesh Kumar from Jagriti Balwadi Sangam Scholl Kachi Chowni, Jammu participated in this workshop.

Dr. Suresh Abrol Director, of Shashvat Art Gallery/Museum, briefed the Chief Guest and participants on the Preventive conservation of manuscripts and Dry Cleaning of Manuscripts during the workshop.
Assistant Conservators Romesh Chander, Kewal Krishan Kotwal and Naveen Maini also briefed about how to carefully handle the manuscripts and making of the handmade paper tray for cleaning manuscripts in Preventive Conservation and making handmade paper box 400 Gsm with Harvanium sheet for careful storage of manuscripts.
The Chief Guest also briefed about the conservation and preservation of manuscripts in day-to-day life and also differentiate the difference between manuscripts and rare books. At the end, a vote of thanks was presented by Romesh Chander Assistant Conservator & Advisor of the Museum.
