How Did Stacy Feldman Die?
Stacy Feldman was living in Denver, Colorado, at the time. In 2005, she married Robert Feldman in Montreal. They had a son and a girl together. She was 44 years old and was an active member of the community. She worked for a non-profit organization that helped search for a cure for a liver condition.
Robert called 911 in the early hours of March 1, 2015, to report that his wife was unconscious in the tub. The first responders arrived quickly and declared her dead. An autopsy performed by the medical examiner at the time revealed that Stacy had suffered injuries. However, these could have been caused by trying to revive her.
The doctor said that drowning cannot be excluded but did not determine the cause or manner of death. In 2017, another doctor reviewed the autopsy reports and determined that an assault caused Stacy’s injuries. These findings were inconsistent with revival efforts. He stated Stacy was strangled or suffocated and sustained blunt force trauma.

Robert Feldman initially claimed to police that he had returned from a gym to find Stacy unresponsive in her bathroom. He then called 911. Susan claimed to have met Robert on Tinder in February 2015 and that he was using a different identity. He told her that he had separated from his wife. Susan said that they had sex at their second meeting. She suspected Robert was lying and found Stacy’s email. Susan emailed Stacy on the morning of March 1, 2015, to confirm that they had been separated.
Susan claims Stacy confirmed her belief that she and Robert were still together. Susan said that Robert had cheated on her before and that she was done with him. This was just hours before Robert called 911 to report that he found his wife unconscious in the bathroom. In December 2017, authorities called outside assistance to examine Stacy’s cause of death and how it occurred.
William “Bill” Smock later testified that Stacy suffered injuries to her upper extremities that were consistent with “knee pressure” from a “straddled attacker.” He believed she died of suffocation, strangulation, or a combination of both. He also stated that Stacy was wearing a watch and was dressed at the time of her attack. Robert claimed Stacy died in the shower from injuries sustained by a bathtub fall.
After Stacy learns about Robert’s affair, the authorities believe that Robert has killed her. Although he was taken into custody in February 2018, the case was delayed several times before it was finally brought to trial. Dr. Bill Smock, the prosecution’s medical expert, testified that there was blood under Stacy’s fingernails and that it matched Roberts’ DNA. He also had her life insurance at the time of her death.
Robert was finally brought to trial in April 2022. Susan McBride’s testimony aided the prosecution. It was also reported that Robert tried to have relationships after his wife’s passing.
